ICAR-VPKAS, Almora organized 03 days training programme on “Mushroom Production Technologies” under SCSP programme
ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan,Almora has organized a 03 days training programme on Mushroom Production Technologies fromFebruary 07-09, 2023 under institute’s Schedule Caste Sub Plan. Director, ICAR-VPKAS, Almora Dr. Lakshmi Kant has inaugurated the programme. In his introductory remarks, he emphasized the nutritional and medicinal significance of mushrooms. He told that mushrooms are rich source of proteins, vitamins, minerals, and free from cholesterol. One must incorporate mushrooms in his routine eating habit. It may enhance the livelihood of the farmers in terms of health and income. Dr. J.K. Bisht, Head, Crop Production Division urged farmers to grow round the year mushrooms. Dr. B.M. Pandey, Head Social Sciences & Nodal Officer, Training cell, asked the farmers to include mushroom cultivation in the integrated farming system. Dr. N.K. Hedau, Head, Crop Improvement Division told the farmers that they can earn maximum benefits by cultivating mushrooms using their old rooms.

Dr. K.K. Mishra, Principal Scientist and Training Coordinator delivered lectures on “Mushroom Production Status: Current scenario and future prospects”, “Button mushroom cultivation technologies” and “oyster mushroom cultivation technologies”. A lecture on “Mushrooms: Nutritional and medicinal significance” was also delivered by Dr. Ramesh Singh Pal, Scientist. Dr. Gaurav Verma, Scientistand Training Coordinator has delivered a lecture on “Mushroom spawn production technology” and “Mushrooms diseases and their management”. Hands on training was also given to farmers for cultivation of button and oyster mushrooms. All the queries of the participants were addressed by the programme co-ordinators. Participants have given their valuable feedbacks. A total of 29 participants from Village Lakhani, Distt. Bageshwar; Village Patiya, Kotyuda, Saharphatak of Distt. Almora and Village Dadim, Distt. Nainital attended the programme. The programme ended with formal vote of thanks to the participants. Certificates to the participants were distributed by the Director. A total of 06 qtlsof pasteurized compost along with spawn and casing soil, hand atomizers were distributed to the participants. All the lectures were also shared with the participants in the form of bulletin. The training programme was co-ordinated by Drs.Gaurav Verma and K.K. Mishra.
