Induction Training Programme for Junior Engineer, Irrigation Department of Uttarakhand State at ICAR-VPKAS, Almora

A technical tour of 53^rd Induction Training Programme for Junior Engineers, Irrigation Department of Uttarakhand State has been organized at ICAR-VPKAS, Almora related to the demonstration of institute water management & irrigation technologies on 27^th January 2023.   Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director, ICAR-VPKAS, Almora inaugurated the programme and welcomed the Course Director Mr. Dinesh  Rana and  participants of 53^rd Induction Training Programme from  Dr. R. S. Tolia Uttarakhand Academy of Administration, Nainital. In his introductory remarks, he highlighted the importance of water management in hills, water management & irrigation technologies and effort of the Institute in improving the status of farmers in adopted village Bhagartola of Almora District and Darima Village of Nainital District.  He also urged trainee participants for working in area of enhancing agricultural water productivity of Uttarakhand State. A presentation was made by Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Scientist (LWME) of ICAR-VPKAS Almora on Efficient water management techniques for enhancing water productivity in hilly region. After presentation, interaction session was held, where all the doubts and query raised by participants were addressed by the Dr. Jitendra Kumar. After that, Course Director of training programme, Mr. Dinesh K. Rana express his gratitude to Director and involved scientists from  ICAR-VPKAS, Almora for sharing valuable time with participants to aware regarding institute water management technologies for hilly region.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. J.K. Bisht, Head, Crop Production Division. An exposure field visit has been organized at Experimental farm Hawalbagh in afternoon. Dr. Jitendra Kumar demonstrated participants regarding water management technologies i.e. brick lining of polytank, gravity fed micro irrigation system, rain water harvesting system, VL Portable Polyhouse and soil moisture sensor ete. Total 32 Nos of Junior Engineer from Irrigation Department of Uttarakhand State  were attended the programme. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Scientist (LWME), ICAR-VPKAS, Almora
